Hey!
I saw a post this morning that wanted writers to create a gaming story for $20.
That pay is ridiculous for what they’re asking for—but that’s only part of the problem.
Working for low pay conditions you to devalue your work. Over time it teaches you that that’s normal and that it’s all you should expect. It can depress your earnings as a freelancer for months and years…maybe your entire freelance career.
You can only stay in that kind of work for so long before you start to internalize it as your personal worth…yes, even if it’s “passion” work.
That’s why I encourage people to stay away from anyone who publishes those kinds of rates…it’s just not worth your long-term freelance health.
Talk to you soon!
