Hey!
Got something you think could be outsourced but don’t know if you should let it go? Here are a few signs that you should seriously consider outsourcing some part of your freelance business.
-
You hate doing it or it’s stressing you out. (That was me and sending monthly client updates…I hated it so much it never got done. Now it’s going great.)
-
It takes you too long. If you’re spending 5 hours on something and you charge $75/hr (which you should be) that’s $375 you could be making. If someone can do it for you in an hour at that same rate, you’re still making $300…just by
not doing the work yourself.
-
An error will cost you. This is why I don’t do my own taxes, and I had an accountant handle incorporation. Not even taking that chance.
-
It’s critical to your business and you aren’t doing it. If a few weeks have gone by that’s not a big deal. But if you’re going into months and years of “I’ll get around to marketing/bookkeeping/whatever”? It’s time to let go.
Honestly, the hardest part is finding good people to pass work off to. If you want to ask for some referrals or just find out what people’s experiences have been like, stop by the boards.
Talk to you soon!
