Hey!
BlackFreelance looks at employer-independent work from a
specific perspective.
Our businesses are small, but even small businesses need focused leadership...which means we all have specific responsibilities.
So for the rest of the year, we’re going to be going over the responsibilities we have as leaders in our freelance work. We’re walking through...
- CEO: Chief Executive
Officer
- CMO: Chief Marketing Officer
- COO: Chief Operating Officer
There’s
a reason for this. I believe that every freelance business needs this kind of perspective more than ever.
Yes, we’re dealing with more uncertainty, but there’s also more opportunity out here for indie workers than there ever has been in history—and you don’t take advantage of
that just hoping your business works out for the best.
So make some space to close out 2022 by reshaping your mindset—a mindset that will help you take advantage of 2023 and all the options you have in front of you as a freelancer.
This month we’re covering the responsibilities of the Chief Operating Officer, or COO.
You’re going to want to keep up with this once since it’s so much more than placing ads.
Measurement
Being COO of your freelance business means you’re responsible for measurement.
You’ll be responsible for tracking how much work is getting done, where lags are popping up, where productivity peaks, etc.
The information you get here can be ridiculously helpful in lifestyle design, since you can align your schedule with your most alert or productive hours. Just know that this can change over time with age and life situation, so stay flexible.
