That’s because the way things are set up…if you aren’t intentional? You can easily end up in a worse spot than you would’ve been while employed. Let’s be real…we all probably know freelancers who are stressed, depressed, and barely getting their bills paid.
You can end up worse off than when you started
This one is SUPER common for freelancers, especially writers.
They start out with a passion or drive in a certain area and dive into it, possibly to get away from a bad 9-5.
Things feel fine at first, but after a while they find themselves stressed, tweeting about #freelancestruggles, and chasing down invoices to make sure they’re behind on bills.
This is why starting with lifestyle design is so important.
Without a plan, you can easily wind up making less than minimum wage, with no insurance and no path for career advancement...and there are plenty of shady companies out there who will be more than happy to underpay you, not give you any healthcare or PTO.
But when you prioritize lifestyle design, you immediately say no to the choices that won’t get you where you want to be. No trial and error required.
