That’s because the way things are set up…if you aren’t intentional? You can easily end up in a worse spot than you would’ve been while employed. Let’s be real…we all probably know freelancers who are stressed, depressed, and barely getting their bills paid.
You’ve got unlearning to do
The hardest part of freelancing for me? Has been unlearning habits from employment.
Working a 9-5 for over a decade really lowered my standards in terms of accepting inefficiency, respecting my own time, and holding people accountable for the jobs they’re paid to do.
If I hadn’t set clear boundaries around things like how many calls I’d take in a week, how much of a heads up I needed for meetings, and the tasks I’d take on as a freelancer...I probably never would’ve made any decent progress in unlearning those habits.
But because I put my lifestyle design first, I’ve been able to objectively look at the unhealthy habits and mindsets I picked up from employment and turn them around.
