If you’ve been keeping up with the decline of Twitter, you know that there’s been news on nearly a daily, if not hourly basis.
But we’re not going to recap that.
Instead, we’re going to start 2023 with 5 lessons freelancers can glean with everything that’s been going on on the bird app.
First off, Twitter’s string of layoffs have punctuated a shift in tech.
For almost 2 decades at this point, tech’s been a space of reliable growth and almost infinite possibility. But things have changed. Layoffs have become disconcertingly common.
For freelancers, this doesn’t necessarily mean insecurity, but it does mean that opportunity is shifting...in some ways decreasing and in others, increasing. (I’ve heard for years that innovation in tech is leveling out and we can expect similar growth in healthcare for next couple of decades.)
So if you’ve been looking to tech to build stability into your freelance business, this doesn’t mean to dump your niche...but you might
want to consider branching out a bit to stabilize your business.
