Most of your freelance decisions should be pretty straightforward. I’m not saying freelancing is easy or quick to figure out, but we shouldn’t be turning our brains inside out to figure out the basics. That’s because most of the script is written for us. One of the reasons I got up and running so quickly in my freelance business is that I copied a lot of what I did...my niche, my skill set, my website, and a good chunk of my marketing. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I went with what was already tried and tested by other freelancers and businesses. This month, we’re going to go over what that looks like. Copying website structure It’s got an About section, Services, a contact page, a page about my network, and a page explaining why someone should work with me. Nothing really stands out as unique...and that’s intentional. Website structure is the last place you want to get creative as a freelancer...don’t make people think. So if you’re stressing about pages and menus, stop. Go with the basics and move on. You’ve got bigger things to think
about. P.S. It’s our job as Black freelancers to spread the word on the potential out there, so if this was helpful, pass it on! |
