Hey,
You know I preach the importance of niches all the time…but what’s even more important in freelancing, is your mindset.
So we’re switching things up a bit for the newsletter and focusing on laying the mental groundwork that sets you up for success in freelancing. The first topic we’re covering?
Working with what you’ve got.
One of the biggest mistakes I see freelancers making is stepping into this world thinking they need to or should start from scratch, and that’s a problem. People are leaving tons of opportunity on the table just because they’re trying to reinvent the wheel.
Your most significant opportunity lies in taking the progress you’ve already made—in school, work, and in your
network—and finding nuggets of opportunity to springboard a lifestyle-centered freelance business off of.
This month, we’re going to explore some mindset shifts around leveraging the progress you’ve already made to find new opportunities and not waste any existing inertia you already have.
Own your wheel
Your wheel—your experience, employment history, and existing network—are yours.
They’re your responsibility, your world, and your opportunity.
Write things down, look for the good, commit to digging even deeper to find new
opportunities to make yours.
Make a mental decision to own your wheel and you’ll find new perspectives on your freelance life that you’d never considered before.
There’s a lot going on right now and none of us can figure out a solid picture alone. Join the BF Discord to share what you’re seeing and learn from the rest of the BF community.
