Hey,
Your niche is one of the foundational pillars of your freelance strategy. When you focus here and keep it updated, you’re on the way to lower-friction freelancing and providing yourself with stability and sustainability in your work life.
But in a world like today’s when everything seems to be shifting, making choices in your niche can be difficult.
That’s why this month, we’re looking at how you should be approaching, choosing, and refreshing your niche in uncertain times.
(If you’re new to niches, this resource page will get you started.)
Ready? Let’s do this!
Ground your niche in human problems
In times of business change, look for
the people, businesses and industries that solve the most grounded problems.
These can be hard to figure out, but usually it’s the ones that intersect with the bottom two or three levels of the hierarchy of needs attributed to Maslow and the Siksika people. There’s a ton of nuance here,
so it’s something you should talk out before making any huge shifts in your strategy.
When you do have questions, swing by the BF Discord to get feedback and help other freelancers out.
