To some people, that’s frightening. To you, I hope it’s mostly exciting and a challenge to build an amazing work life that brings you less stress, better pay, and an all-around better lifestyle. (The fact that you’re even subscribed here tells me that’s probably true.)

I want to see you get off to the best start possible in your freelance life and that means being honest about what freelancing is really like…it means going deeper than those “positive” articles you’ll see floating around the Internet and into realness to help you succeed. I did that in this post, 5 Things They Won’t Tell You About The Freelance Lifestyle, but I want you to challenge yourself to do the same thing. Be honest with yourself about your expectations, fears, frustrations, everything — if you are, you’ve got a much better chance of becoming the independent worker you want to be.
