Comfort can be a liability anywhere in life, and that’s extra true in freelancing…I got reminded of that this week.

Upwork’s changed its payment models and my clients are already jumping ship (from them…not me…they love meJ) What was once a spot where I could find companies who just happened to trip and fall into the confusion that is Upwork, is now a platform that’s scaring people off with its increased fees.

I sat down to market this week and realized I’d become very reliant on them for finding leads. That’s a problem. I want to help you avoid ending up in the same place, which is why this week’s tip is…

Stay flexible.

In freelancing, that means having multiple sources of leads, and creating a general online presence as a freelancer that draws people to you from multiple sources. To help you get started, I want to share with you 4 great (and simple) ways I’ve found to build my brand as a freelancer. These are all slower grown areas, but they can be very beneficial, especially during upsets like these that can throw your marketing game off completely…if you’re in a bit of a lag (like I am right now), it’s a great time to focus on this kind of thing!
