I didn’t realize it when I first started freelancing, but Twitter can be a ridiculously powerful tool in building your freelance career.

That’s right…our favorite social media app can be used for more than keeping up with celebrities and finding the latest tea. It’s actually a really powerful way to engage with the people in your freelance world who want to be engaged with. Twitter is a big place though, and after a while, those people can get lost in your forever-refreshing timeline.

This is where using Twitter’s list function comes in. It’s not hard to do and is a great way to neatly group business owners, marketing agencies, even competitors you want to keep track of. They’re one of my favorite tools and have completely changed the way I engage online.
