Online or offline?

Hi

Just this week on Twitter, I was asked about how often I use the Internet to get clients.

It’s something I hadn’t thought too much about since I’m such a heavy Internet user…I get all my clients online. I’ve gotten to a point where I straight up avoid taking local clients — They tend to want to meet in person more, which isn’t something I want to do in my freelance business, but that’s me.

Online vs. offline, local vs. national/international. Each has its benefits and issues. Generally, going online and going broader distances gives you a chance at higher income and more diverse work. Local and offline means you get to connect in person and really get to know your clients and build a local reputation.

Which do you think would work best for your freelance business goals? Which are you most comfortable with?
