I’m rolling up on the 3-year anniversary of the layoff that sparked my freelance career, and let me tell you it’s been a ridiculous emotional ride.
Fear, elation, pride, shame…I’ve probably run through all of those in a single hour before. After a while though, I noticed that I couldn’t really trust my emotions. It was important to be honest about them, but I definitely couldn’t count on them as
a reliable measure of how my freelance career was progressing.
That’s why I started doing self- assessments like the one all
BlackFreelance Academy members have available to them now. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t realize that my general opinion of my life had
gone from Pretty Good to Awesome in just half a year. I wouldn’t know I’d hit all my financial goals, but that at the same time, I hadn’t been keeping up with some of my health goals.
Tracking the growth of your freelance career is essential. You can do the same through journaling, your own freelance blog, diary apps, or jumping in the academy yourself. Regardless of how, find what works for you…you won’t regret
it!
