It just hit me today that 4 years after being
laid off, I might have my first six-figure equivalent month. (That’s a little over $8k in a four-week period.)
Whether it happens or not, I know one thing…this isn’t something I concentrated on from day 1, and I’m glad for that.
My first goal was to clear $1K. After I cleared that, I wanted to cover base expenses, then make $5K in a month. If I’d started aiming to make $100K in a year? I’d have gotten discouraged real quick, and likely
given up on freelancing before things even had a chance to get good.
This applies to everything from income, to skill development. to getting clients. Growing incrementally is the easiest on you, and it’s the best way to learn those crucial freelance lessons that only come if you let things unfold at their own speed.
I’m betting you’ve got big goals yourself. Remember though, pace yourself and give yourself room to progress, and things
will be a lot easier.
