I’ve got a question for you to kick it off…have you been thinking, I mean
really thinking about how earning on your own as a freelancer can change your life? That might be just having your cellphone bill covered each month, or you might be going all out and thinking of going full time (like
some of our Academy members are planning to do before 2019 rolls around.)
All I know is that every year I see more opportunity for freelancers to earn more improve their lives, and become even less dependent on employers. To help you get there, we’re going to start this year just thinking about our skillsets.
I bring that up because
just last night I was being interviewed and they asked where I was able to transition to full-time freelancing because of my faith in my skills.
I had to be honest. That wasn’t it at all.
It took me a while to have real confidence in myself as a freelancer (I’m talking years). What I did believe in though, was the possibility that my skill was needed (and paid…we’re not gonna forget paid) in my
niche.
See…all skills aren’t needed the same everywhere. In some niches, blogging is saturated, in others (like mine,
the world of B2B) things like blogs and eBooks are kind of just finding their stride.
So when you’re thinking about what
freelance skillsets you want to explore and apply this year, try to keep an eye out for where you see a need for the kind of work you do.
…and if you’re having a hard time deciding on a skill, make sure to check out your
Foundations Workbook (and as always, ask me any questions you’ve got.) Have a great
week!

P.S. I just added a new skills page for voiceover artists, so if you haven’t had a chance yet,
check it out here (and pass it on to anyone who might be interested!)
