I remember one of my favorite podcasts when I first started freelancing was run by a guy who was pulling down SERIOUS cash within a year.
Me? One year out and I was making pennies compared to what he was.
A small part of me wondered if I was doing something wrong, but deep down I knew I wasn’t.
I’d stayed in my employed niche but shifted skillsets. That meant I didn’t have the chance to carry over clients and connections the way some people do. (I was also taking things slow because I was trying to heal from burnout at the same time.)
It wasn’t that I was being too hard on myself. My problem was I wasn’t being honest with myself about what I was trying to accomplish as a freelancer.
That’s why your freelance workbook starts with goals right
at Phase 1.
If you aren’t honest and clear about your goals, you can end up comparing yourself to a version of you (or someone else) that isn’t even real.
So what are your goals? Are your daily, weekly, and monthly efforts lined up to get you there?
If not, let me know why you think that might be.
