So I’m gonna be real honest…this is one aspect of freelancing I haven’t been very good at.
I’ve taken a few weeks around Christmas each year, but those dream, 2 month vacations you hear advanced freelancers talking about? …I’ll let you know how 2019 goes.
Still, honestly, it’s not all that complicated.
Planning vacations as a freelancer is about doing 2 things…
- Deciding how much you need to earn to pay yourself for your time off.
- Claiming your time and giving your clients plenty of warning so nothing’s falling in your lap at the last second.
The most important step is getting your income straight, because then you can chill for 2 weeks, 4, or even 8 without worrying about showing up back to work broke.
Time is money, but more importantly, money is time.
