When you add that on top of the penalties for job searching while Black, and you’re looking at a career path with a lot of potholes, income gaps, and frustration.
I won’t tell you that freelancing can solve all your problems. But I will say that in an environment like this? Your career plan needs a safety net, and ‘hoping things will work out’ won’t cut it.
Being able to pick up a client or two between job transitions can go along way in stretching savings, boosting your self esteem, and even networking to find your next employed job.
So when your filling out the “why” section of your Strategy Workbook, consider “career stability” as a goal. The world is changing fast, and we all need a little more of it.
