One of the hardest things about this pandemic is that we don’t know what the long-term impact will be for our mental health, friends, families, and communities.
That’s why I think there are a few things we’ll need to set our sights on as we move forward, not just as employment-independent people, but as humans who are adjusting to a new and emerging reality.
Easier work: If there was ever a time to look for work that’s the highest yield with the least effort, it’s now. Grinding just isn’t going to carry us as far as it used to and we’re going to have even bigger challenges to our mental and social health. Make life easier where you can.
Existing relationships: It’s easier and cheaper to work the freelance relationships you have compared to finding new ones. If you have any clients who need your support more during these times, focus on them.
Smart pivoting: Agility is our superpower as freelancers. Now’s the time to keep an eye open for new opportunities as they arise.
We’re in a period of change right now. It won’t last forever, but it does mean that survival and practicality is job one.
More than ever, it’s a great time to build out the practical aspects of your business. If you want to talk those out and even get some inspiration, come over to the boards and let’s see what kind of opportunities we can find.
