You might have seen me on Twitter talking about the fact that a lot of writers are scared to calculate their per hour rate…not just for writing, but for pitching, following up on checks, and everything it takes to run their business.
I get it. Once you start running the numbers, even just estimating them, you might find out that, for all your work, you’re making minimum wage. Maybe even less.
Those answers hurt, but there’s opportunity buried in that kind of honesty.
Every client that’s taking more than they’re worth…
Every service that’s earning you way less than it could be…
Every corner of your business that you feel passionate about but that’s draining you financially and emotionally…
…they’re all chances to look at the reality of your business and make changes…changes that will get you closer to the life you want.
The questions might be hard, and the answers even harder, but they’re what light the path to a better future.
