We’re rolling into another Skills Month and I want to talk a little about passion.
You probably know that BlackFreelance takes the position that leading with passion can be dangerous…even making it easier for some clients and fields to exploit your work.
But that doesn’t mean there’s no room for excitement in your freelance life. Sometimes, you can use your skill as a vehicle for a passion.
Here’s what I mean.
My skill is content marketing and writing. Can I say I’m passionate about either of those things? Not really. But what really gets my heartrate up? Is making complex ideas simple and thinking of new ways to present stale concepts.
I don’t lead with a passion, but I’m still doing something that gets me excited every day.
So if you’re feeling like you have to choose between work you don’t like and passion, don’t look at it as a binary. Instead, try to find the space where they intersect. Since you’re a freelancer, that freedom is all yours.
