I was just talking with a freelancer about adding a new service to his list. Problem is it would take him out of the core skill he was used to offering and step into telling his clients how to use it.

 

“Can I really pull that off?”

 

It’s an important question. I’ve asked myself the same thing, around everything from strategy to new kinds of writing.

 

The answer is always “yes.”

 

Yes, because you have flexibility as a freelancer and can try it with one client in a controlled environment. Yes, because you can find a way to make it work for you. Yes, because you can start small and grow over time.

 

The more important question is whether it’s something that provides value to your niche…and you won’t know until you get it out there.

 

So if you’ve been thinking about adding a skill/service or want to and don’t know where to start, come talk it out in the community.
