Hey, and happy Niche Month!
I’ve talked about educating yourself on your niche before, but today I want to touch on something more fundamental.
You should always be exploring a niche or two. It’s something you want to do before you get your freelance business going, and you’ll also probably be doing it once you’re up and running if your business hits a slow spot. (We touch on this in episode 3 of
the podcast)
I do it pretty often myself (I’m looking at AI right now), and usually in pretty simple ways (because you know I’m all about getting more while doing less).
Here’s what that looks like…
- Podcasts to see what people in my field are doing and talking about
- Following freelancers in my niche to see what kind of services they offer and how they communicate those services to their prospects (the same people I want to connect with)
- Watching ideal clients for what they’re doing and where my skills and services might align
So much of refining your niche is about exploration. Keep that in mind, and don’t kick yourself if it takes one try, two tries, or even more…you deserve that patience.
