You know what skill I’m working on right now? Video production.
“But you’re a writer Megan!” (That’s what you’re supposed to say)
I know! Thanks to some very useful tools (like Biteable) that allow a writer like me (one who’s got NO design skills) to easily create videos, I’m doing videos now.
It’s been great since I can charge a nice price for them. It’s also refreshing to try something new. But you know what? In another niche, this might not fly at all.
I’m learning video because that’s what my niche and what my clients want. I could tell someone in another niche to dive into video production and be wasting their time.
That’s the thing about refining your skills. You start with one to get your freelance momentum going, but it’s generally a good idea not to invest too much until you’ve gotten a good feel for what’s going to catch with the people you work with.
So while your strategy workbook starts with skill, that’s just the beginning. Pay attention and your niche will let you know where to head next.
