Freelancing can be great once you get established, but those first years? It’s really no wonder so many people drop off before they realize all the opportunities out there.
One of the reasons it’s so hard is there are just so many choices...especially around skill sets and choosing what category of freelance service you want to offer.
For me it was pretty easy...Sure, I could put a website or add campaign together if I had to, but I’m a writer. That’s why my first steps were finding where my writing would give me the most traction in getting toward my goals. From there I adjusted.
If you’re stuck trying to choose between multiple skills, try aiming for what might give you the easiest start — that means the skills where you see the most jobs and the highest pay.
Trust...there’s enough to get straight when you’re a new freelancer. An uphill battle in 12 different skills is not something you want to take on.
If you want to talk it out, come by the boards. You never know what kind of insight somebody else in the community might have.
