Client relationships can be intimidating, but honestly, it comes down to helping them with their goals.
I personally keep a profile document on all my clients. On it is a section where I make notes on their goals, what makes them light up, and what they worry the most about.
That’s how you stand out as a freelancer, that’s how you keep clients, that’s how you shape a sustainable freelance business.
Since we’re closing out the year, now is a great time to ask “what do my clients want in 2021?” You can try to answer on your own, or you can ask them directly. (Considering how fast things have changed this year, directly isn’t a terrible idea.)
