Hey!
If I asked whether you could figure out how much your freelance work brings in each month…could you tell me?
I’m not even talking about giving me an exact number. I want to know if you have the ability to pull a number if needed.
It’s an uncomfortable topic for a lot of freelancers, I know. When I first started, looking at those tiny numbers coming in on slow months was disheartening…but you know what?
Facing them is the only way I grew.
I have a friend who’s trying to put on muscle. It’s a long, hard journey, and tracking weight gain is one good way to measure how his habits are working out.
But he’s not checking every day. Not even every week.
That’s because it’s not a good idea to be obsessive about this kind of thing. All of our numbers go up and down for a bunch of different reasons. But being able to check occasionally is a great way to monitor whether your freelance habits are paying off…and then decide whether you should keep going or make some
tweaks.
So, whether it’s your bank transactions, PayPal, an invoicing system, or something else, think about checking your income monthly. Honesty in this space can be ridiculously valuable in the long run.
