So Patreon’s CEO got on YouTube this week to announce they’re laying off over 30 people...while also announcing they just got a big boost of cash.
I saw people asking “why”...why would a company not just invest in reskilling those employees to meet their new goals? Why wouldn’t they just find a way to keep their people.
The answer is pretty simple. Because they don’t have to.
For all the nice words and efforts to appear sincere, ultimately, they’ve decided not to invest in their people. Thing is, these days, few businesses do.
That’s where we are as a society, which means that every worker, people like you and me...we’re responsible for our education and career development.
