Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business — “self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey! Happy CMO month!
Since you’re in charge of marketing your freelance business, and are basically the CMO, this month, we’re going to be asking a few questions. Questions to help you look back over the year and figure out whether your marketing did what needed to be done.
Was it effective?
So, this is the most important question you can answer about your marketing.
You might have been using tactics you like and platforms you’re comfortable with, but if they weren’t bringing in clients (and helping you retain good clients)? They probably don’t belong in your freelance business.
This month, sit down with your business and try to answer a few questions…questions like…
- How many new clients did I bring in?
- Did I lose clients?
- Am I working with the kind of clients I like?
It might take some digging, putting lists together, and even sifting through email, but if you work through these and your marketing isn’t getting you where you want, it’s a sign that next year is an opportunity to do something different.
…and if you’re having a hard time pinning down answers to any of those, come by the Academy boards and let’s talk it out!
