Every month we run
through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business — “self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey! Happy CMO month!
This month we’re talking marketing tactics on LinkedIn, so if you haven’t, check out this post. It explains how I use LinkedIn paid email as a marketing tactic to save time and do a better job connecting with my freelance target market.
But this week, we’re going to talk lists.
Start with lists
This is actually something I’m working on with a client right now. It’s basically taking lists of clients you want to work with and telling LinkedIn to only send your messages to people from those companies or organizations.
You can get the lists from a ton of places, but here are the ones I like to use.
- My own existing prospect lists (as a refresher)
- Conference attendance lists
- “Top #” articles and announcements
- Lists of award winners
It’s pretty straightforward after that. Just run whatever ad you think will work to get their attention. Pro tip: I’ve found that mentioning the list they’re on or sending a “congratulations” if it’s from something like an award list gets more activity.
Need help building your lists or getting them up on LinkedIn? Come by the Academy boards and let’s talk it out!
