Every month we run
through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business — “self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey! Happy CEO month!
I’ve gotten on Twitter multiple times to talk about something that’s ridiculously important, but that doesn’t get said enough…
If your freelance business is hectic, overwhelming, or taking up too much space in your life…you have the ability…no, the responsibility to change that.
The answer might not be obvious and the solution might not be easy, but you’re in charge and have what you need to start making a change. That’s why this month, we’re going to talk basic strategies for streamlining your freelance business. First up?
Cut out what you hate.
Maybe it’s bookkeeping. Or cold calling. Or sending a monthly client letter (that’s me).
Whatever it is, give yourself permission to let it go. That might be through outsourcing, automation, or just dropping the activity altogether (if it fits in your strategy).
You might need to learn how to do it just for the sake of being able to pass it off properly, but once you do, don’t feel bad about giving it to someone (or something) who enjoys the work or does it better. Businesses do it all the time and it’s your responsibility know when to do it for yourself.
If you need some help deciding where or when to offload some of your most hated work, come by the Academy boards and let’s talk it out!
