Every month we run
through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business — “self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Happy Production Month!
Since we’re looking at ourselves as workers, today we’re going to talk benefits.
I know a lot of freelancers get nervous about this one—and if you do, that could be a sign you’re underpaying yourself as a worker.
Are benefits too expensive?
Decent employers offer benefits…things like healthcare, education, PTO. We should be offering those things to ourselves as freelancers too.
If it makes you nervous to think about cover the cost of all that, your freelance business might not be bringing in enough money to afford a worker…even if that worker is just you.
But you’re a business owner. This is something you can turn around. It might mean refining your niche or raising your rates. Regardless, know that it’s totally within your power to treat yourself better than any employer ever has.
If you want to talk out how to make the changes that mean you can give yourself great benefits? Come by the Academy boards and let’s talk it
