Every month we run
through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business — “self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Happy Marketing Month!
How do you describe yourself as a freelancer? If you hesitated at all, you’re definitely going to want to work through June. We’re going to be figuring out (or refreshing) your value statement—something you’ll use on everything from social media to your website to marketing emails.
Who are you, freelancer? Your niche.
So we’re going to start with my statement, pick it apart, and show you why it works. Here’s how I introduce myself.
I’m a healthcare tech writer and content strategist who helps marketing leaders get more value out of their content efforts.
See that first part that’s bolded? First, we’re going to talk your niche.
Get it out there up front so that anyone reading knows that you’re speaking directly to them (or not). Notice in mine I use “healthcare tech” immediately to keep people reading.
So give it a shot for yourself.
What’s your niche? Plop it right in front of your skill and see how that sounds.
If you want to get some input on your self description? Come by the Academy boards and let’s talk it out!
