Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
We’re back into Production Month! This August, we’re going to be covering 4 ways to get the 9-5 funk out of your freelance production.
When you’re going through these, look for areas of your business that might feel heavy or stressful and see if one of the approaches couldn’t help you clear some of that out.
#3 Communicate boundaries
Just because you’ve left the 9-5 mindset behind doesn’t mean your clients have.
I’ve found that being honest and open about my availability and even my more laid-back work style has helped almost completely eliminate conflict, confusion, and clients dragging me into the way they’re working.
So if you’re only available…let’s say…3 days a week, let people know! Keep it positive (“I work Mon-Wed” vs. “I don’t work Thurs-Sun”) and expectation management gets a lot easier.
