Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
Sales are what will make or break your freelance business, and if you’re like me, it doesn’t come naturally.
I’ve had to get better at sales over time, and honestly,
anybody can.
That’s why this month, we’re going to be covering the top 4 sales skill that you can keep sharp to keep your cash flows healthy.
#3 Goal setting
I’ve talked before about how $8K in business each month used to feel like a stretch goal for me. Now, If I see that number on my monthly sales sheet? I know I have some issues I need to take care of.
Does that mean $8K
was a bad goal for me in the past?
No! I was still feeling out my market, testing prices, and learning what marketing and sales techniques worked best for me. If I’d started off with a $15K goal from day 1, I probably would’ve been completely discouraged…and had an extremely difficult time believing in myself as a freelancer.
The whole SMART (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, Time-based) goal thing has a lot of value. So if you’re struggling on that front, swing by the Academy boards and let’s talk it out.
