Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
Since uncertainty is the norm these days, agility is a must as CEOs of our freelance businesses.
But how do we build that into our one-person shops without overloading ourselves?
That’s what we’re tackling in October, so we’re walking through 5 actions the CEO of freelance businesses should take to stay agile and respond to the changes coming our way.
# 1 Nurture your network
This is #1 because it arguably
matters the most.
I can’t explain how much I’ve learned just from passive conversations with former clients, other self-employed people, and freelancers that I work with.
In our line of work, pretty much anyone we work with, pass
work on to, get work from, or discuss work with is part of our network. So I'm talking strategic partnerships...and a ton of people beyond that.
These connections are valuable because we can’t see
everything.
No matter what degrees we have, how many years' experience, or how well our business has done, we’ll always have low-visibility spots...especially as the world changes more quickly.
So
check in with your connections—and if you want to drum up some fresh perspectives, come by the Academy boards and let’s talk it out.
