Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
Since uncertainty is the norm these days, agility is a must as CEOs of our freelance businesses.
But how do we build that into our one-person shops without overloading ourselves?
That’s what we’re tackling in October, so we’re walking through 5 actions the CEO of freelance businesses should take to stay agile and respond to the changes coming our way.
#2 Decide where you need stability
There’s a thing called
“hypermobility” in human joints.
It might make for impressive stretches, but it can leave people prone to injury because ultimately, our bodies need stability somewhere to function our best. When treating hypermobility, you’ll often hear professionals work to create stability in key areas.
The same thing applies to freelance businesses.
It’s possible to have too much of your business open to change.
If you’re working without set
standards around your income, and your niche, and your work hours, and your services—it gets incredibly hard to create the stability you need for agility.
Personally, my work hours and rates aren’t up for discussion. Because I’ve decided that, I’ve found a solid niche...which means when COVID turned the world upside down, I’ve been able to confidently (and
relatively easily) adjust my services to a world that’s increasingly online.
So if you’re having difficulty, try starting (or refreshing) your Strategy Workbook...or just shoot a reply to this email with the challenge you’re having and maybe I can
help.
