Hey!
Thanks to some really good questions from an Academy member, we’re gonna spend this month talking about distribution.
Now this topic? It’s arguably more important than anything on the content creation side...because if no one runs across the content you create, does it even exist?
Distribution is where way too many freelancers and businesses get tripped up on their content marketing...so we’re going cover four foundational questions you should be asking about your distribution strategy.
If you haven’t answered this question clearly? I wouldn’t even be in a rush to create content.
There’s a reason our Strategy Workbook covers your target market...if you don’t know who you’re talking to? Clearly? You’re likely wasting your time.
And I don’t mean a simple description.
I could say that I create content for B2B healthcare leaders, but that’s not helpful for an effective distribution plan.
The real answer is that I create business-focused content for healthcare executives and decision-makers in enterprise-level organizations who need to create change in their work through the use of software technology.
I could say that I create content for Black freelancers...but what I really do is create content to support the strategic growth for Black freelancers who prioritize quality of life and sustainability in financially optimized indie businesses.
Those are whole sentences. Your “who” should be just as long. They should be descriptions that are precise and that include outcomes.
It can take a bit to figure it all out, so if you struggle with yours, just reply to this email and let me know what issues you’re having.
P.S. If you ever have any challenges with your content creation? Come over to the community boards.
