Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life. You can view a condensed version of this month’s coaching prompts here.
A good chunk of the world is headed into a recession if not already there...and now’s exactly when CEOs are most important.
They make the decisions that help companies survive and even thrive in change. That’s true for bigger businesses and it’s true for freelancers too.
So this month, we’re going to be walking through self-coaching questions to help keep your freelance business healthy through any
economic bump.
If you’ve got any questions, just shoot a response to this email or stop by the boards for a deeper conversation.
First, resist any impulse to lower your prices.
You’ve got bills to pay and the last thing you want to do is deal a blow to the ROI on your labor.
If a client says they need a break, suggest scaling back your engagement to the most critical and productive elements of your relationship. Beyond that, start marketing in corners of your niche where your rates won’t be seen as a burden. This might mean more of a focus on cities and regions that pay higher salaries, or even sub niches where the
money is still flowing freely.
