Hey!
As much as I believe in the power of content marketing, it can’t do everything.
Content marketing needs to be an outgrowth
of strategic business plans...even great content can’t make up for a lack of direction.
That’s why this month we’re going to be covering issues content marketing can’t fix...and what you should be doing
instead.
A niche that’s too broad
I see freelancers struggle with this one all the time.
They’re cranking out content...good content, but it’s not landing. People aren’t reading. They aren’t clicking. They aren’t
buying.
I’d be willing to bet it’s gotten worse over time, since everyone's identities and problems are so much more specific than they were even 10 years ago.
If
somebody told me they had a “self-guided course for Black women”, I'd just slide that message right into the trash. But if they said it was for Black women interested in sustainable strength training after the age 40...they’d honestly have to talk me out of it.
So if your content isn’t getting the attention you know it deserves, it
might just be an issue of specificity.
