Hey!
Conversations with salespeople have been some of the most instrumental in developing my approach to content marketing.
I was never a “publish for the sake of publishing” person, but I don’t come from a sales background...which meant there was an entire side of the conversion process I didn’t understand.
This month, I want to walk through some of the most useful and recent lessons I’ve learned working and talking with salespeople and from my own work being both my own sales and marketing departments.
One piece of content is never going to make the sale
It’s important to keep this in mind from a couple of angles.
You’re never going to create a piece of content that’s so amazing that people rush to sign up. (That should take some pressure off you on the creation side.)
At the same time though, one piece of terrible content can stop someone right in their tracks through a funnel.
So don’t overthink things...and be on the look out for that case study, email, or video that’s underperforming compared to everything else.
