Every month we run through a series of
questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
We’re switching things up this month because I wanted to share a new tactic I’m seeing some nice success with, and that’s
Microsoft ads. I’ve talked about LinkedIn ads before but these? They’re performing at an entirely different level for me at a really good price.
You
won’t see many freelancers using ads, but they’re something everybody should consider—especially after you’ve got a good feel for your market, your primary buyer, and the kind of things they’re looking for online.
So this month, I’m going to introduce you to Microsoft Advertising (Formerly Bing Ads), why they’re working for me as a freelancer, and why you might want to consider them
yourself.
Should I consider paid ads as a freelancer?
The short answer is yes. While you might have a reason not to use them (not knowing your ideal client, not having strong messaging, or your content funnel isn’t well established) you shouldn’t lead with a “no”.
The thing about ads is they can get you in front of more people than one-on-one meetings.
You know how it takes 8-12 touches to land a client? Ads reach out and handle quite a few of these with minimal effort on your part. They’re a great way to stay top of mind, meeting your potential market where they are.
Beyond that, if you’re selling content or advertising services as a freelancer, they’re a great example of what people could be achieving if they’re working with you—they paint a picture and lead prospects directly to feeling like “I want that”.
So if you’ve got a decently established website that needs quality traffic, paid
ads are something you might want to consider.
