Hey!
If there’s anything to learn from Elon Musk’s failures, it’s just how badly a CEO can tank a company.
A CEO is the face of the company—they’re the main point of contact for a business’ network…this is true for a massive corporation and it’s even truer for you as a freelancer.
So this month, we’re going to cover network management.
(I’m really looking forward to feedback from you guys this month, since this is something which, as an introvert, I’ve had to put a lot of deliberate effort into.)
#3 Have I taken the time to think out my network?
This is honestly the hardest part. Everybody underestimates just how many people they know.
When I first started, I swore my network was only a handful of people, but when I thought hard over a few categories, names started to pop into my head.
If you’re struggling, try sitting with these nine categories to map out your network.
- Employers
- Other freelancers
- Client contacts
- Networking and community organizations
- Agencies
- Non-freelance indie professionals (e.g. entrepreneurs)
- Specialists in your niche
- Media contacts
- Friends and family
