Every month we run through a series of
questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
It looks like we’ve got a really volatile year ahead of us…but I’m confident that new opportunities are going to come out of it for freelancers. Mostly because our agility allows us to respond
to change better than your average worker—but also because it’s going to be even harder to maintain and improve our quality of life in many ways over the coming years.
And while navigating all that requires specific tactics, it’s impossible to know exactly which to apply if we don’t have an extremely clear vision for ourselves and for our businesses. So this month, for our Income and Assessment, I’m posing four questions to answer in the face of big changes.
#1 What do you need to navigate change?
We all have different emotional relationships with change.
Some of us find it
exciting. Some see it as unsettling and disruptive. Others see it as an opportunity. That’s why this question has to be answered at a personal level.
If you’re like me and a blend, you might need to identify areas of stability to make smart decisions that support my life goals. If you find it exciting, you might want to focus on a niche or two to corral your energy and align it with your market.
For some of us, we’ll need to hang on to employment opportunities or clients that pay well but aren’t exactly where we want to go while exploring new frontiers in our freelance market. For others, we might want to take bigger risks to ride the wave of new opportunities that are emerging in a changing world.
But regardless, marinate on that question a bit. And if you need some help nailing down specifics, drop by the Facebook Mastermind and we’ll see what we can help you with.
