Every month we run through a series of
questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
There are SO many AI options out there for freelancers...every time I turn around there’s a new course to take, video to watch, or tool to try.
I’ve put a lot of effort into making sense of it all, so to help you do the same and figure out a good place to get started for your business, this COO month, we’re going to cover some really high-level perspectives on AI and how freelancers should be applying it.
So let’s get into it!
What skills do I
need to apply AI to my freelance business?
The best AI tool for freelancers? Well, there really isn’t one.
Some are better for planning, or creativity, or helping with writing. Others are better for visualizing frameworks or transcribing.
The real question is “What AI tool do I need for what I’m
trying to accomplish”? And that’s a decision in figuring out your business needs and then identifying the best tools for that job.
Personally, I’ve prioritized the areas where I had the most frustration (my contact page was hideous) and where it would be easiest to test a minimum viable project (sales and client SEO writing).
From there I’ve tested a really
basic stack, landing on Gemini, Perplexity, Make, and Lovable. I try my best not to venture outside this list, at least for now.
If you’re struggling to find direction in a sea of AI tools, pick just one area that’s been causing you issues…but one where you have a really strong understanding of what’s going on, and start there.
