Every month we run through a series of
questions to help you run your freelance business like a bigger business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
Partnerships are immensely valuable in times of uncertainty and chaos…and that’s what we’re living in now.
I’ve been having
regular talks with partners and potential partners, and it’s helped clarify so much in my freelance business. That’s why, this CMO month, we’re going to cover how to make sure you’re putting your best face forward as a partner and how to keep that momentum going for the indefinite future.
#2 Are you publicly finding your people?
Anyone who’s been around BlackFreelance for a while knows I’ve been talking about niches for over 10 years.
There’s a good reason for that.
Owning a niche has multiple benefits for anyone running a
freelance business—it reduces confusion, guides your networking, simplifies your service creation…and signals to potential partners that you’re focused in your field.
If you haven’t settled on a niche (or at least dedicated yourself to testing one) serious partners will know and might read it as a liability.
Now is a great time to go public with your niche (being
overt on your website and LinkedIn) and even more importantly with partners…going public with your Ideal Client Profile (ICP). Having a clear ICP lets potential partners know whether you’re working with the same people they are or if you’re a little outside their sphere of focus.
That kind of clarity saves everybody time.
