Too many of my clients are over-invested in SEO and invested in the wrong ways.
It’s not because their target market isn’t searching (it almost always is), it’s that their decision-makers aren’t searching for the products and services they offer.
But sometimes it goes deeper than that.
Sometimes a client will want to get attention around a very popular topic in their field…and it kind of makes sense.
For example, right now in my world of healthcare, EVERYBODY’s talking about the pandemic. From a business perspective, it isn’t just something we see on the news. It’s directly impacted the heart of our work.
But still, just jumping on the pandemic search wave can leave them with great traffic numbers but no additional marketing or sales boosts to show for it.
That’s because it’s not enough to just get attention. It’s still our job — for our clients and for our freelance businesses — to grab attention around the right topics at the right time.
SEO might or might not be the answer, but if you focus on using search to connect with solving the problems your prospects care about with their business minds, you’ll be a lot closer.
