It’s only pretty recently where I really started to feel that I was making what I wanted.
I was doing better than my employed rates a long time ago, but feeling that I was making “life-changing” money? That really only happened in the last couple of years.
I’m talking about an amount of money where I feel comfortable AND that work wasn’t dominating my life.
I want you to get to that same point, so this month, we’re going to take a look at your business and ask “Why aren’t I making enough?”
The first answer? It’s probably your clients.
If I were still working with (generally broke) martial arts businesses and startups? I wouldn’t have gotten where I wanted. It just wasn’t possible without working at a frantic pace or upping my productivity (or both).
There’s a reason you’ll hear so many freelance coaches say to aim for people who “solve expensive problems”. That’s because there’s a better chance that they’ll pay you well to solve their issues. They simply have more to gain when you do your work well.
There’s a lot of ways to address that, but the first is to look for opportunity where you are. Ask yourself…
- Where’s the money moving in my field?
- Where are products and services the most expensive?
- Who’s already paying for high-priced services?
If you’re having a hard time figuring that out, come by the Academy group and let’s talk.
