I’m gonna be real with you...this past month? Even coming off a 3 week vacation? I really haven’t wanted to work.
It feels off to even say that since my workload is so much less than it used to be — but this past January even writing’s been hard.
I know a lot of people feel the same way.
Even people who haven’t been affected much by the pandemic are tired and feeling drained at some level...but at the same time most of us still need that cash coming in. That’s why this month I want to go over 4 different ways to find space in your work without derailing your cashflows.
If you came by the general group lately, you probably saw me saying I’ve had a hard time writing lately. Short things have been fine, but long pieces? Like deep articles and case studies? My brain just can’t handle it right now.
I’m glad I’ve been pushing video services lately and have a lot of strategy work to do. Pushing forward in my marketing, I’m going to be focusing on the clients I know need to get email programs going. (Which is what I should’ve been doing anyway since these shorter pieces are big earners for me.)
This won’t give me months off, but it does push my work back into a space that doesn’t feel heavy.
So don’t be scared to name what’s tiring you out these days. There’s a good chance there’s something else that isn’t and that you can figure out a way to focus on that for a while to give yourself a break.
